Q: Why do you volunteer to be on the board of Run Nova Scotia?

I’ve been a runner for a decade now and have admired the work of Run Nova Scotia for many years. The people who make up this wonderful organization are the same people I’ve come to call friends, whether it was meeting in a road race or as a volunteer. Being a board member allows me to have a greater hand in supporting the fantastic running community we’ve developed in Nova Scotia.

Q: How long have you volunteer on the Run Nova Scotia board?

I am the newbie of the group, 2017 being my first year.

Q: What is your favorite Run Nova Scotia series event and why?

Who doesn’t love Barrington? The time of the year, the ocean, the course, the volunteers  - there’s a reason why it’s so popular.

Q: Why do you run?

I used to run solely for therapeutic reasons – to relieve stress. I did it on my own. I didn’t race at all. Then it became me challenging myself – seeing how far I could push my body. I then started to race. When I started to race, I started to meet other people like me. Now I run because I get to be with my friends. We support and encourage each other. I’ve embraced the social side, yet I still have the drive to improve.

About Us

Since 1983, Run Nova Scotia has fostered and promoted road running all across Nova Scotia. From one running boom to the next, our mission has not wavered: to promote health, fitness, and camaraderie to people of all ages and abilities through the sport of road running. For close to 30 years, we’ve supported the unique needs and goals of anyone from Yarmouth to Sydney who has decided to lace up a pair of running shoes and join the thousands of other Nova Scotians running the roads.
