Overview

Road running is for everyone! Run Nova Scotia is here to help communities promote road running though races, expos, and educational programs. Members of Run Nova Scotia help support that effort by participating in road races all over the province and by being ambassadors for the sport every time they lace up.

Run Nova Scotia has members all over the province, of all skill levels, and of all speeds. If you run or love road running, you should be a member of RNS!

Benefits of Joining
Be in the know

As a member you will receive periodic e-mails from us about races, events, special offers, and news about the running community.

You will also receive The Raconteur our newsletter that is produced three times a year. In its pages you will be able to read stories about races members have run, get nutrition advice, stay on top of the race schedule, hear about training techniques, and read interesting articles written by our members—possibly you!

We also have a bulletin board where you can go to ask for directions to a race, ask about others’ experience with sports drinks, beg for a ride to a race, ask for advice about things to do in race communities, and just about anything else you can think of that’s running related.

Compete - against yourself

Run Nova Scotia hosts concurrent race series’: the RNS Road Race Series and the Timex Series. All of our races are open to any runner, whatever their skill level or ability. Run Nova Scotia members, however, receive race registration discounts and special draw prizes at each race.

The RNS Road Race Series comprises over 25 races in 16 communities in the province from Yarmouth to Louisbourg. These races range in distance from 5Ks to marathons—there’s something there for everyone! RNS members collect points at every race they finish. These points are tracked and at the end of the year, you could find yourself the winner of an age class award.

The Timex Series comprises seven of the RNS races ranging in distance from 5K to 10K. These races are meant to draw out the speed demons! Points accumulated at these races (a separate system from the RNS points) go toward determining eligibility to be on the team sent to Ottawa to represent Nova Scotia at the Timex National 10K Championship in October. But don't think you can't make the team because you're not the fastest runner. Every year we draw from the pool of Timex Series participants to send some 'not so speedy' members, too!

Be an ambassador

Every runner is an ambassador for the sport. As a member of Run Nova Scotia, you show you think that running is accessible, inclusive, fun, and a great way to stay fit and healthy. Your membership fees help RNS go to communities all over the province to support local runs and races by providing professional start and finish line services. RNS has promotional items for sale with the RNS logo on them that makes it easy for you to show your support!
